Which side was which?

She put her arms around it and broke off a piece from each side.

She nibbled a little bit from her right hand.

Suddenly, she began shrinking very fast!

Her chin hit her feet!

She quickly took a bite from her left hand.

Now she began growing too fast!

Her neck stretched up like a snake!

Her head went up above the trees!

A pigeon flew at her face, flapping its wings.

"Snake! Snake!" it cried.

"I'm not a snake!" said Alice.

"I'm just a little girl."

"Little girl?" said the pigeon.

"Little girls don't have necks that long!"

"You must be a snake looking for my eggs!"

"I'm not looking for your eggs," said Alice.

"I don't even like raw eggs."

Finally, the pigeon flew away.

Alice carefully nibbled from both pieces of mushroom.

After many tries, she got back to her normal size.

It felt strange to be her usual height again.

She had been so many different sizes that day!

As she walked through the forest, she came to a little house.

It was only about four feet tall.

"Whoever lives here must be very small," she thought.

She ate a bit more mushroom to shrink herself.

She did not want to scare whoever lived there.

When she was about nine inches tall, she walked up to the house.
