"Is that all?" asked Alice, trying not to get angry.

"Is that all?" asked Alice, trying not to get angry.
"No," said the Caterpillar.
It smoked its pipe quietly for a few minutes.
Then it spoke again.
"So you think you have changed?"
"Yes, I'm afraid so," said Alice sadly.
"I can't remember things like I used to."
"And I keep changing size every few minutes!"
"What can't you remember?" asked the Caterpillar.
"I tried to recite a poem, but it came out all wrong," said Alice.
"Recite another poem for me," said the Caterpillar.
Alice tried to recite "Father William," but it came out different.
The words were all mixed up and silly.
When she finished, the Caterpillar shook its head.
"That was wrong from beginning to end," it said.
Alice felt like crying.
"I told you I wasn't myself anymore!"
"What size do you want to be?" asked the Caterpillar.
"I would like to be a little taller," said Alice.
"Three inches is such a terrible height."
"It is a very good height!" said the Caterpillar angrily.
It stood up tall to show that it was exactly three inches.
"But I'm not used to being so small!" said Alice.
The Caterpillar yawned and began to crawl away.
"One side will make you grow taller," it said.
"The other side will make you grow shorter."
"One side of what?" asked Alice.
"The mushroom," said the Caterpillar.
And then it crawled away into the grass and disappeared.
Alice looked at the round mushroom.
